Cubera´s House II. Casa Cubera II.

And here is the grave. They want for their chapel because there is buried Cubera´s ancestors. They want to make a little tribute to their ancestor. Is a good idea. They want a heraldic detail with Cubera´s coat of arms. It´s a arrow across one heart and four fourth moons. They have a old green flish stone. Really hard work stone because it don´t come from a quarry and we don´t know the live of the stone, I mean, we don´t know how long it was at the mercy of the elements, how many hits or where it was. I have to repeat 3 times the coat of arms because this stone is like la lot of compresed stone sheets and it really jump if you don´t attack appropriatlely. The first time broke the back of the arrow, and second time the front of the arrow jump.......

Y aqui teneis la lapida. La quieren para su capilla porque alli hay enterrados antepasados de casa Cubera. La quieren para hacer un pequeño homenaje a sus ancestros. Es una buena idea. Quieren un detalle heraldico con el escudo de los Cubera. Es una flecha atravesando un corazon y cuatro cuartos de luna. Ellos tenian una losa verde antigua. Ha sido un trabajo dificil porque la piedra no proviene de una cantera y no sabemos la vida de la piedra, quiero decir que no sabiamos cuanto tiempo ha estado a la intemperie, cuantos golpes ha recibido o donde ha estado. Tuve que repetir 3 veces el escudo porque esta piedra esta hecha con laminas de piedra comprimidas y salta si no la atacas apropiadamente. La primera vez me salto la pluma de la flecha, y la segunda la punta de la flecha........

I will show you installed. They want to put in fron of the altarpiece and protect it with a glass piece.

Os la enseñare instalada. Quieren ponerlo en frente del altar protejido por un cristal.

Hunter´s hut. Refugio de cazadores.

Benasque have big hunters tradition. The Benasque´s game preserve build a hut and they want a typical mountain shelter with typical benasque´s stone walling. I used demolited houses stones and searched river stones to do it. Inside I  made big walling details but I have no photos. They use to meeting and slaugterhouse. I really love this kind of stone walling. In every place the beautiest stone is the place´s stone. I made it 3 years ago.


Benasque tiene una gran tradicion cazadora. El coto de caza de Benasque construyo el refugio y querian colocar la tipica piedra Benasquesa. Use piedra recuperada de demoliciones de casas Benasquesas y busque piedra de rio. Dentro tambien hice una gran pared de piedra pero no tengo fotos. Lo usan para hacer reuniones y como matadero. Realmente me gusta esta clase de trabajos en piedra. En cada lugar la piedra que mejor queda es la piedra del lugar. La hice hace 3 años.

Peguera.

Peguera is just in Benasque´s entrance. Is a new urbanization in Benasque. Is not Benasque´s stone. The rock is from San Pedro Manrique from Soria and I don´t like so much. The propety likes the work, an if they like I´m happy. I made 6 months ago.

Peguera esta a la entrada de Benasque. Es una nueva urbanizacion en Benasque. No es piedra de Benasque. La piedra es de San Pedro Manrique en Soria y a mi no me gusta. A los propietarios les gusta y si a ellos les gusta yo soy feliz. La termine hace 6 meses.

Cubera´s House I. Casa Cubera I

Cubera´s House is a really old House from Castejon de Sos. Their family history is closed to Benasque valley history. They easily can go back to the 15th century in their family history. They have a spectacular house close to Castejon de Sos Council. Beauty one with a lot of Antiques. They have a small chapel in the house. I think is s.XVI chapel. It have Austrias war, Independency´s war and civil war. In civil war the Comunist fired altarpiece, but they saved a lot of sacred things. The capel have awesome frescos painted in the vault whith heraldics, sacred symbols, ect...
They decided to restore it, and they give me the job of doing a round window and a grave stone. In this post I will show you the round window.

Casa Cubera es una antigua casa de Castejon de Sos. La historia de la familia esta intimamente ligada a la Historia del Valle de Benasque. Facilmente pueden remontarse hasta el s.XV en su linaje. Tienen una casa espectacular junto al ayuntamiento de Castejon de Sos. Una casa muy bonita con infinidad de antigüedades. Tienen una pequeña capilla en la casa. Creo que es del s.XV. Ha pasado la guerra de los Austrias, la de independencia y la guerra civil. En la guerra civil el bando republicano quemo el altar, pero consiguieron salvar ciertos elementos. La bobeda tiene unos frescos increibles con detalles heraldicos, simbolos sagrados, ect....
Han decidido restaurarla, y me han encargado hacerler una Lucera (ventana que sirve para dar luz) y una lapida. En este post os enseñare la ventana circular.

Arrow shooter. Saetero o Espiguera.

This is a small work made for Casa Rufat. 2 years ago I made a few stonemason works in this house, and the owner wants it. It is a medieval detail used to deffend the houses from bandits. I made in granite and is in golden proporcion.

Este es un pequeño trabajo hecho para Casa Rufat. Hace 2 años hice unos cuantos trabajos de cantería en esta casa, y el dueño queria un saetero o espiguera. Es un detalle medieval usado para protejer la casa de bandidos. La he hecho en granito y esta hecha en proporción aurea.

Fade´s House. Casa Fades

Fade´s house is a house in the old part from Benasque. Is a stone walling work made for me 4 years ago. The lintels and stone beams are made by me too. Is a typical benasque´s walling stonework with French wood frame.  

Casa Fades es una casa situada en el casco antiguo de Benasque. Es un edificio de piedra rustica hecha por mi hace 4 años. Los dinteles y los "canetes"(piezas de piedra que sujetan el alero y terraza) los hice yo. Es un trabajo hecho con piedra tipica de Benasque con marcos tipicos franceses (llamado marco Aranes).  

Ribagorza´s Count Palace. Palacio de los condes de la Ribagorza.

Ribagorza´s Palace is a Renaissance build from second half of s.XVI (1567a.C.). Recently the Benasque´s town council decided to restore it. The principal wall have a really beauty stoneworks from spanish stonemasons. The entrance is the most destacable piece, a half arch with a lion. In the principal wall there was a non beauty thing, a big hole in the rigth side without stone piece. The principal contractor contact me, he offered to me to make a new window and I accept the job. The principal problem was the kind of stone. I have 6 stone pieces of the same colour, it was like Macael´s marble but really white one. It wasn´t Macael and I make a tour to check all the old quarrys from the valley. Was imposible to find no stones like this and I needed a big stones to make the lintel. I found the same kind of rock in Llanos del Hospital but it is nacional park and is imposible to take nothing there...........


El palacio de la Ribagorza es un edificio renacentista construido en la segunda mitad del s.XVI ( 1567 d.C.). El ayuntamiento decidio restaurarlo. La fachada principal tiene unos preciosos trabajos de canteros españoles. La entrada es la pieza a destacar, un arco de medio punto con un leon. En la fachada principal habia una cosa muy fea, un gran agujero en la parte derecha. El constructor principal contacto conmigo, me ofrecio hacer una ventana nueva y yo lo acepte. El problema principal era la clase de piedra. Tenia 6 trozos de piedra del mismo color, eran como un marmol macael pero muy blanco. No era Macael y me hice un tour por todas las canteras del valle para ver si encontraba la misma clase de roca. Encontre una piedra parecida en los Llanos del Hospital pero es un parque natural y no es posible coger nada ahi........

The matter was the mayor want the hardest draw, the same work like the left one. It have one stept, flat part with nail holes, a salomon´s rope with holes and a final stept. One friend called Tarsicio Barco who is descendent of ribagorza´s count told me that those windows are later from the principal construction. I think it isn´t renaissance window, it is a baroque work, but is no documents because Benasque suffer some wars, one big earthquake and it was fired 3 times since s.XVI

La cuestion era que el alcalde queria el dibujo mas dificil, como la de la izquierda. Tenia un escalon, una parte plana con unal uñas talladas, una cuerda salomonica con un ultimo escalon. Un amigo llamado Tarsicio Barco que es descendiente de los condes de la Ribagorza me conto que esa ventana se hizo despues de la obra principal. Yo personalmente creo que no es renacentista, es un trabajo barroco, pero no hay documentos ya que Benassque ha sufrido unas cuantas guerras, un gran terremoto y fue incendiada 3 veces desde el s.XVI

And the final odyssey was the big pieces for the lintel and window sill. I start to ask all old people from the town and finally somebody told us were it comes. All white stones from our valley comes from a quarry opened in Roman´s time in St. Beat, France. We contact them and they preparate us two big stone pieces. We go there by Viella´s border and carry to Benasque.

La odisea final fueron las grandes piezas para el cabecero y alfeizar. Pregunte a toda la gente mayor del pueblo y finalmente alguien me dijo de donde venia. Toda la piedra blanca de nuestro valle viene de una cantera abierta por los romanos en St. Beat, France. Contactamos con ellos y nos prepararon dos grandes piedras. Fuimos hasta alli por la frontera de Viella y las trajimos hasta Benasque.

 And integraded window in a renaissance palace, is the rigth one. Personally I hate the down windows with wood lintels.

Y una ventana integrada en un palacio renacentista, es la de la derecha. Personalmente odio las ventanas de abajo con dinteles de madera.

Last work....... Ultimo trabajo.

The De Mur brothers who are builders contact me one week ago. They have a old entrance from San Juan de Plan, small town from Gistain´s Valley. The entrance is propety of a Spanish lady who is from Castells house in Castejon de Sos. The matter is that they want to put in a old house to acces to the kitchen. The stone pieces are old pieces from s.XVI and in the old house demolition they lost one piece. The left base.
They give me the rigth base and superior piece from left side. And after few days of hard work I made it.

Los hermanos de Mur que son constructores contactaron conmigo hace una semana. Tenian un antiguo portalon de entrada de San Juan de Plan, un pueblo de  Gistain. La entrada es de una mujer española de Casa Castells de Castejon de Sos. La cuestion es que quieren ponerla en una casa antigua en la entrada de una cocina. Las piedras son del s.XVI y en una antigua demolicion perdieron una pieza. La base izquierda.
Me dieron la base derecha y la pieza superior de la parte izquierda. I despues de unos dias de trabajo duro la Hice
